One of the better questions we have gotten is, “Is CBD oil allowed on planes?” The quick and simple answer to this question is “yes you can!” But there are still limits to what you can and can’t bring on to an airplane. Let’s discuss CBD, what you can and can’t bring with you on your next flight, and why you would bring it to begin with.
Many people fly from place to place for various reasons. Maybe you’re going on a well-earned vacation, or maybe you’re flying for a business trip. Whatever the reason may be, there are many people who reportedly have what’s called airplane anxiety. About 40% of the general population admits to having some fear of flying, about 2.5% of that group having a clinical phobia, meaning said person either avoids flying all together or does so with considerable distress. As with other situational phobias, the fear is almost always disproportionate to the danger posed. There are many people who take medications or use different techniques to help relieve their anxiety. But what if you could bring CBD with you? CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis or hemp plant. You may already know the compound THC, also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, which comes from the same plant, except it causes a psychoactive effect. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, and brings many different healing properties. Those being the ability to reduce anxiety, pain, inflammation, stress,
depression, and many other conditions. CBD becomes valuable with airplane anxiety due to its anxiety and stress reducing properties. One of the better things you could use specifically for airplane anxiety would be our SoCal gummies that come in Peach Rings, Neon Rings, and Sour Bears. These gummies are specially made to help with anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, and mood balance. These gummies take about 30 minutes to 45 minutes to feel the effects, they make your body relax much easier and reduce the anxiety either entirely or to a much more manageable level. We also have our Kurativ CBD/CBG gummies that can help with the anxiety as well. Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid typically most abundant in low-THC and high- CBD cannabis strains, including hemp. Like THC, CBG reacts with the cannabinoid receptors in the brain. CBG is the inspiration for other cannabinoids. While CBD has a relatively low affinity for cannabinoid receptors and interacts mostly with the endocannabinoid system on an indirect basis, CBG is thought to interact directly with the brain’s CB1
and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. CBG works to fight inflammation, pain, nausea and works to slow the proliferation of cancer cells. CBG has been called ‘inactive’ when compared to THC, but it has slight similarity for CB1 receptors, approximately equal to that of CBD. Like CBD, it has painkilling and anti- inflammatory properties, indicating that there is scope for developing cannabinoid drugs that do not have the psychoactive properties of THC. Strains high in CBG will be beneficial treating conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, and Crohn’s disease. For Multiple Sclerosis, a 2014 study in mice said that CBG “has been shown to alleviate symptoms in a viral model of multiple sclerosis.” Remarkably, one of the few medical drugs that contains cannabinoids was approved as a treatment for neuropathic pain in patients with multiple sclerosis. CBG is a good cannabinoid to being with you because of all of its benefits, and it will especially help you with airplane anxiety.
Unlike something like THC, it is legal to take with you to most states in the USA. Though each state has their own rules and laws on CBD, even if it comes from a hemp plant. As of 2020, these ten US States forbid any type of marijuana-based CBD products: Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas. Though always look into wherever you may be going to see if CBD is or is not legal. Within the U.S., you can fly with CBD products that contain less than 0.3 percent THC. However, TSA rules very much apply, in that any liquids (oils, tinctures, creams) must be less than 3 ounces. You can bring a CBD vape pen through airport security in your carry-on, but not in your checked baggage.
